The Creative
Red was approached by DS Smith to host two events at their state-of-the-art R&D facility. The first, a global digital customer event which would include a hybrid livestream. The purpose of the event was to showcase the brand’s latest innovations and developments both internally and to global customers.
The second, was in collaboration with one of their biggest clients, Nestle. Nestle were hosting a global packaging conference nearby, and the DS Smith team were keen to demonstrate their capabilities. This was to be a cosy, intimate experience.
We were tasked with creating a space within the warehouse that would meet the needs of both events – an impactful presentation area, and a live stream studio.
As a global leader in packaging design and development, DS Smith needed to showcase their commitment to leaner, cleaner and greener packaging solutions.
With plenty of floor space (100,000 square foot) it was the ideal venue to showcase DS Smith’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
With sustainability, plastic reduction and green initiatives at the forefront of everyone’s minds these events were essential to enhance the brand’s profile and relationship with their market.
The Execution
To serve both events best and reduce the need for wasteful print, Red deployed a large 12m, x 3m led video wall. This was combined with a large 30M x 15M Black Truss box over the LED Wall, to help create a more intimate feel within the space, and focus the delegate’s attention on the audience.
This multi purpose structure allowed the suspension of lighting and audio equipment, which helps us create a clean bespoke finish. For the Nestle Event, the truss box helped to make the event space feel more compact, showcasing the fantastic machines DS Smith held, whilst bringing attention to the LED Wall.
To support the event further, our content team worked with the client to develop custom content that would emphasise key points and ensure the delegates were fully immersed.
For the second event, we transformed the space into a studio. We black draped the whole box to provide ultimate control, and installed a PPU unit for recording.
A Polecam was installed which turned the space into a full studio. After broadcasting the day’s events to a worldwide audience – with our own producer and floor managers – we then provided a highlights video.
The Detail
Red’s team of dedicated technicians installed, operated and managed every element – with on site audio, video, barco and lighting technicians alongside producers, content editors & producers. Using the space for two different events meant we adapted small elements but were able to give the client a better ROI.
After investing heavily into R&D, DS Smith are now leading the way with a new state of the art facility that will innovate their packaging development.
