The Creative
The University of Leicester hosts an annual alumni ball which typically alternates between London and Leicester.
We’ve built a long standing relationship with the university over the years and with their centenary approaching, they approached us to host a statement ball that would ‘wow’ guests and form the centrepiece of the year long centenary celebrations.
The space for the event was the grand atrium within the student union – with a large glass ceiling, balconies, walkways, it was a beautiful open space destined for a ball!
It was located in the Percy Gee building – a building that is one of the original campus buildings, and an integral part of the University’s history. The purpose of the event was to engage the alumni community while raising funds from the community, promoting advocacy and awareness.
With it being the universities centenary year, making a statement celebration was imperative for the whole community.

The Execution
We worked closely with stakeholders to build a solution that would transform the space into an intimate yet grand setting. Collaborating closely with stakeholders allowed us to ensure minimal disruption to nearby shops and cafes which would remain operational until just before the event. Once the space was cleared, we reimagined with dramatic decor, lighting and staging.
To create the immersive ambiance we installed gold, black and white canopy swags across the ceiling to give a luxurious feel. The stage was dressed in black and featured a striking golf starburst prop as the centrepiece. The look was completed with fairy lights and retro tungsten stage lighting.
We designed and executed a solution that would work cohesively within the space, so themed draping, carpets, props, and retro lighting set the tone as guests entered. Shops and coffee outlets were discreetly concealed with drapes, ensuring the space remained cohesive and elegant.
