The events
For three consecutive years, we’ve been honoured to support PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) in delivering their annual referees’ conference.
This is a huge event for the brand, held every June. It aims to bring together referees from across the UK to review updates on rulings, protocols, and training to ensure alignment for the upcoming season.
Over the years, we’ve seen the conference has evolved in scale, format, and technology. From a traditional large conference setup to roadshows and immersive LED displays, we’ve partnered with PGMOL to continuously refine and elevate the event, to ensure it remains impactful and engaging.
with engagement, and communicating the message the priority – impactful production is key to ensuring the message lands with the referees.
The Execution
2022:
The first year was held at Edwardian Heathrow; a two-day conference that saw up to 650 referees into a compact space. We delivered a traditional large conference setup with a custom stage, twin Panasonic rear projection screens (ultra-short 0.38 lenses for space efficiency), and relay screens for maximum visibility. Using the venue’s house rigging, we created a polished stage wash and professional production environment.
2023:
The conference transformed into a roadshow event which took place across four locations: Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, and London. With a more localised approach we were able to tailor content to regional audiences, with attendance ranging from 90 – 300 delegates.
We designed scalable solutions for each venue, which included fully branded stage wraps that showcased key imagery and the organisation’s highlights. Venues like Aintree Racecourse, Twickenham, and Edgbaston provided diverse settings, requiring adaptable AV solutions for seamless delivery.
2024:
In 2024 we saw the biggest technological leap with the introduction of a 12m x 3m LED video wall for immersive video content. We recognise the importance of video to engage and inform attendees, so we used the Absen PL2.5 Video Wall (2.5mm pitch) to deliver sharp visuals with wide viewing angles. This, combined with a Barco S3 switcher, allowed us to display widescreen footage, quizzes, interactive elements, and buzzwords that captivated audiences. This was held across Doncaster and London, with large-scale setups to provide an elevated experience. We wanted to both impress the client but also set a new standard for future events!
