Who: East Midlands Railway in conjunction with BA events

What: Flagship train class reveal event

Where: Derby Etches Park Depot

The CREATIVE

A NEW DAWN FOR EAST MIDLANDS RAILWAY

East Midlands Railway launched Aurora, their flagship new train class, at a major reveal event for 120 guests at Derby Etches Park depot. The event needed to feel like a proper product launch, not a corporate gathering with a train in the background, but a moment that did justice to what EMR had built.

A purpose-built stage and LED wall sat alongside the Aurora train itself. A branded history wall told the story of the franchise. EMR had commissioned original music for the Aurora campaign, and that audio bed carried through the entire day, including scheduled train tours with a synchronised lighting show.

The EXECUTION

DELIVERING IN A LIVE RAIL ENVIRONMENT

Working in an active depot brought real logistical challenges. PPE requirements, restricted working practices, and the complexity of laying carpet and rigging around live rail infrastructure all demanded careful planning and close coordination with the depot team.

With a full build day in place, our team delivered a production that felt polished and intentional from the moment guests arrived. Every element, stage, screen, audio, lighting, branding, working together to make the reveal land.

The DETAIL

STAGE AND LED WALL

A full 8m x 3m stage with solid fascia, anchored by a 4m x 2.5m LED video wall. Angled to work with the available depot space, delivering maximum visual impact without compromising the reveal of the Aurora train itself.

LIGHTING

Robe LEDPointe moving lights, Chauvet COLOrado Q40 washes and H4 uplighters, all programmed on an Avolites Quartz desk. During scheduled train tours, a synchronised lighting show ran timed to the Aurora score.

audio

L-Acoustics X8 and X12 speakers with SB18 subwoofers, controlled from a Yamaha QL1 desk. EMR’s bespoke Aurora campaign score provided the audio bed for the entire day.

Branded History wall

A custom-built history wall running the length of the depot space, housing four 55″ Samsung 4K professional screens set into custom vinyl and felt panels. Guests walked through the story of the Aurora project from inception through to launch before the reveal.

Client feedback

We worked with the RED Event Production team on a train launch event and were really impressed with their flexibility and support throughout. Even with last-minute changes, they adapted quickly and made everything run smoothly. The show looked incredible, the guests all commented on how the production really elevated the event.

THE OUTCOME

A LAUNCH THAT MATCHED THE AMBITION

120 guests witnessed the Aurora train reveal in an environment that did justice to the scale of what EMR had built. The production ran without issue throughout the day, polished, intentional, and consistent from arrival to close.
